I'm looking at compressors, and the sounds of these floor compressors just aren't doing it for me. I'm looking a compressor that'll just make me wanna jump outta my pants, give me a good fullness in my bass tone, and reduce all noise. I was looking at the dbx 166XL (yes, we all know by now that I'm a cheap bastard). Will this do it for me? I know Ryan Martinie uses a dbx compressor, will this help me in my quest of aquiring a tone as sweet and savory as his? I'm aware that a lot of it come from his Ampeg and his Thumb Bass, but c'mon, I'm 15, my pockets are small. So, I'd like some input on the dbx 166XL, maybe some amp settings that'll give me a decent Martinie tone.

Here's what I currently have to work with:

Ibanez SRX2EX1 4 string
Digitech BP200
Crate BT100 (15" speaker)
Fender BXR(Bass Extended Range)100 (Also 15" Speaker)

What I WILL have to work with:

Schecter Stiletto Studio 5
Gallien Krueger 700Rb or 1001Rb w/ 410RBH cab
whatever rack compressor you guys recommend, probably the dbx

Thanks to all who reply, it's a huge help.

By the way, the Crate has a 4 band EQ and the Fender has a 7 band graphic EQ (I think).
