My amp has stopped giving off much sound. It did this quite suddenly, and with a few pops like someone tapping a mic turned up too loud. It now will give me practically no noise, and when it does it sounds just like my guitar unamped but louder. Is my amp broken? Have my guitar batteries run out? Please help me!!!

Are you talking about your Spider III ???

Why does your guitar have batteries? Are you talking about the pick-ups in the guitar?

If so, that could be the problem. I recommend replacing those first. Also, are you absolutley sure you don't have a damaged lead guitar cable? Lastly, I hope it is not your amp, but it could be your amp.

Can you try your guitar with new batteries in another amp? any amp?
Can you try a different guitar in your amp?
Is it possible your power supply or your amp is on the fritz?

how old is amp and where do you live?

Ok... My guitar doesn't have batteries. I've established it is a problem with the guitar, unfortunately. I will try other guitars with the amp on Saturday (band practice). It is not the cable, I have tried two others and they all had the same problem. I am talking about my Spider III, I have no other guitar amp. My guitar amp will get sound from my bass, but not from my guitar.
