alright I dont mean to flame brits, but why is it that every single guitar on ebay UK (exaggeration of course, dont post links to the few that do ship) is available for pickup only?

are brits afraid of the postman?

EDIT: Or is that just an excuse for not wanting to ship to germany?

They're still wary because of what happened when they used to ship tea to my country.

I love you =] I can't say I was very fond of you when we first started talking because you trolled the hell out of my threads, but after talking to you here I've grown very attached to you.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

I think it's more down to laziness and time constraints, post offices have retarded opening hours, Whoever thought making the opening hours of a public service like that the same as your average working day was a freakin moron. Result: post office congested at lunch time and dead the rest of the day.

Because prices are rediculous in the UK, let alone exporting.

plus we dont like you...

To ship from the UK to Germany would probably cost somewhere in the region of £100-£120 considering it costs £50 to send something via courier inside the UK

what, are your packages delivered within 3 hours or something? and wrapped in gold paper?

No, Royal Mail just sucks.
#13
It would be shipped via CityLink or soming due to size. Expensive companies that love money. Prices are going up in ref to petrol as well.
#14
oh because your mail is "royal"

no but seriously, why are the costs so high? what cause is there? dont you have FedEx and UPS as well?

I just checked fed ex.
Postage of a 20kg package (1cm cubed size....) costs about £200 to post from my house to some random zip code in America.

I'm not sure who we do have?

Royal mail pretty much monopolises the letter delivery service, and when it comes to something like a guitar...FedEx and Parcelforce are the only companies who get a look in with something like eBay.

So yeah, there's not a lot in the way of competition, because Royal Mail have were doing it themselves for years, and so they kind of, set a bar, and other companies can get away with charging around that area, seeing as there's no competition

I'm shocked you managed to ship anything for £11, who did you use?

It was via Paypal - I think it was supposed to be Parcelforce but Royal mail picked it up. I thought it was a bit cheap so I checked the Parcelforce website and it should have cost me £53.
Win I'd say!

It's mostly pickup only because it's really not that far to collect anything and the post is expensive.

I've never trusted UK couriers since they LOST my PS2 car kit that cost my £100. The seller very kindly sent me another one, but it arrived too late for its purpose. In short, I wouldn't trust couriers to send guitars, especially ones I couldn't walk into a shop and buy.

Britain is a nationally postman-afraid country.

But really, it costs like £15+ to ship stuff and the maximum weight it 2kg to overseas (well thats what it says on their leaflets )
wen i ask they say that they fall into the habit smhw ........but nyways i think there is a connection smwhere. Now i being a teetollar will not give into this habit nyhw

FOR JUST £2 A WEEK, YOU CAN PREVENT THIS.
