I do lots of guitar related things at school like bands and stuff.

I do have two electrics a Gibson Les Paul and a Yamaha. The problem is that i do not want to take my gibson to school 2 or 3 times a week and risk dickhead's kicking it etc. and my Yamaha which is basically beyond repair.

So here is my question.
What are good cheap guitars which have a bit of character under about £200?

I was thinking one of the following

+ Danelectro DC-59
+ Squire Tele Custom II
+ Epiphone Dot Studio

Any other ideas on alternatives (I HATE METAL GUITARS SO NO B C RICHES ETC)?

I really like the DC59, one of my favourite guitars. I'd say get one of them!

Either that or a Squier Vintage Modified or Classic Vibe model, they kick ass.

God, I'm sounding really 'fanboy' today. Oh well.

If you can stretch to £279 get one of these....

It'd be well worth it, only problem is you might find yourself playing it more than your Gibson...

Failing that just get one of their cheaper LP copies

I don't think he wants a metal shape, you could impale small farm animals with that guitar.

+1, a really nice guitar. Good handling, good sound.

Or why not go with another yamaha Pacifica. They are cheap and versatile and I can only recall pleasant encounters with them.
If you're sick of the Strat shape, the Pacifica 120 has a tele shape.

Otherwise, a Squier Tele is nice. You'll get a standard series model for 200 pounds.

try out the new squier classic vibe series. they rrp at £250ish so you should be able to get one online for about £200.

I've heard good things about them. They do a 50's strat , 60's strat and a tele.
Pretty good if you ask me.
