I honestly though "that don't kill ya make you more strong" was pretty awesome... /sarcasm.

Spinner has a whole huge section for this i think. I cant recall any ones from it, but really, 3/4 of popular music today has substance-less lyrics. Its pretty sad to be honest.

Seether's 'Fake It'. Love Seether, that song is senseless.

What's the point of even trying to put any meaning into lyrics if no one's even going to get it?

Edit: Typos.

To be honest, Cannibal Corpse's lyrics are pretty meh. Though, don't be mistaken...I'm a big fan.

Sure, but it still isn't that great of a line. Personally, I would have said love is a foreign word. Much better and a clearer point.

And kind of like the whole What don't kill ya make ya more strong, it has flow, but it horribly butchers the English language.

saying love is a four letter word is compairing the word love to a vulgarity. Many vulgar words are for letter words, shit, ****...etc.

"What I choose is my choice" - Smashing Pumpkins. Thanks Billy. Great songwriting there.

"Remember when I was in the grocery store, now's my time" - Blink-182. Has nothing to do with the song. Has nothing to do with anything for that matter.

"Bastille Day" - Rush

La guillotine claims her bloody prize, what's not to like? It's a great song, one of my personal favourites by Rush.

There's no bread, let them eat cake
There's no end to what they'll take
Flaunt the fruits of noble birth
Wash the salt into the earth

But they're marching to Bastille Day, la guillotine will claim
Her bloody prize free the dungeons of the innocent the king
Will kneel, and let his kingdom rise

Bloodstained velvet, dirty lace
Naked fear on every face
See them bow their heads to die
As we would bow as they rode by

And were marching to Bastille Day, la guillotine will claim
Her bloody prize sing, o choirs of cacophony the king has
Kneeled, to let his kingdom rise

Lessons taught but never learned
All around us anger burns
Guide the future by the past
Long ago the mould was cast

For they marched up to Bastille Day, la guillotine -- claimed
Her bloody prize hear the echoes of the centuries power isn't
All that money buys

There's nothing pointless about those lyrics.

The Clash

Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
An if I stay it will be double

Obviously he should go because trouble isn't as bad as double trouble.

What the fuck? I'm pretty convinced you're either trolling or badly displaying sarcasm.

There are quite a few 'shallow' responses in this thread. Some meanings take more than a simple casual listen to find, I actually prefer it when they do. Of course there are likewise many pathetically dull lyrics out there...

I love most of Rhett Miller's/Old 97's lyrics, but he says "set you free" about 5 times too many.

My mind is going. I can feel it.

Whats wrong with a song about a dude who is a loser, grows up to be a fisherman, then dies in a storm at sea, but doesn't really care because hes such a loser that the see is all he really cares about anyway?
