That would be the same as the low F on a bass in standard tuning. So you're saying you can't hear that?

I prefer Drop D personaly, just becuase you can get a nice heave sound out of it easier than if your in standard (IMO), and it's just the most convient of the heavier tuneings, especialy when playing with others. It only takes a second to go from standard to Drop D, while it can take a while for everyone to tune down to drop C for example. And i've found most guitarist tend to stay in standard....most of the ones i've played with anyway

Yea, if you want to play heavy music, C# standard or D standard are good tunings, and you can drop the low string down as well if you wan even more of it (so it would be B or C, respectively). B standard with a dropped A on the low string is pretty low, that's about as low as you can go on a regular guitar, and that's already pushing it.

I like DGCFAD.

Makes Stairway to Heaven sound pretty cool, as well.

DGCFAD is one of my favorites. CGCFAD is also pretty cool. A whole step down just sounds so damn good through my bass amp.

D standard, maybe dropped C (it's easy to make this sound like generic metalcore). stop downtuning so damn much, heavy and ballsy is in the writing not the tuning (not entirely anyways.) dropping down to retarded tunings is just overcompensation for lack of creativity and writing ability IMO

It's the riff, not the tuning, that is heavy.

I would like to add that I like to play as low as drop Bb sometimes.
#23
Yes, i realize that the riff is what makes a song heavy, im one of those people who typically tells people this, im not retarded, im just tired of a440, if anyone has some crazy, not necassarily HEAVY tunings, let me know, im just interested in expanding the range of tones i can get

Once I recorded a few songs with a industrial metal band and I played on standard B tuning. Sounded pretty cool I must say

To all the people saying that it's the riff and not the tuneing that is heavey....right yourself a riff in Drop D that sounds heavey....okay now drop down a few steps to a much lower tuneing and play that same riff again, in the same position. Does it not sound heavier?

Sus4 chords are what my makes brother's death metal band in E sound incredibly heavy. With a little theory, you can chug in every tuning.
