Ahoy hoy,

I was looking into buying a new bass soon and as I was browsing around I found all basses look the same from what I saw. What are some weird shaped/ funky looking basses that still play good.

The Bongo looks pretty sweet imo, but i havent really seen anything else that stands out. Anyone else seen anything that stands out as something a little bit different?

Also: no T-birds itt

I hear it plays good and sounds sweet, but it looks uber odd.

You could use a headless. When it was my main bass, I got tons of comments from people who didn't even know what it was (One guy even thought it was a chapman stick, lol). Also, anything made by warwick (except maybe the streamer) is going to be pretty out there looks wise

EDIT: ^ That too

^^ THAT IS HILARIOUS

And surprisingly to scale
"Whats that noise??"

"... Jazz"

i dont really like the jazz bass shape, it looks like a P bass that melted. also, any SG bass just looks strange, although the guitar version is beautiful.

Usually I can't stand stupid pointy shapes, but that is actually gorgeous.

This and a used warwick 'vette are the only contenders for my next bass so far.
At only 600 bucks Id say its a great deal, but Ive yet to play it.

Well, not to be "that guy", but don't forget that the quality and sound of the bass is more important than its looks. And if you like the way that Bongo looks (I know I do), and it's in your price range, I would highly suggest it, because it is extremely high quality.

Or you could buy a bass that looks like a flaming teddy bear. Just whatever.

Not a flaming teddy bear but.....

Here. As for me, I'd take the Bongo. Odd looking and sonically wonderful.

I think the Bongo is a little out of my price range haha, I'm looking more at the stingray now. I guess I don't really want a different looking bass, most of these just look hideous

Well you can't really go wrong with a Stinger... but Bongos aren't THAT much more than an H Stinger, are they?

[looks it up]

Yeah you can get an HH Bongo for about $100 more than an H Stingray. About $1400 vs about $1300 new.

Probably easier to find a used or discounted Stinger than a Bongo, though.

Edit: disregard that, I found Bongos start at $1450 at my local place now, I thought they were a lot more, I have to get it special ordered in though
