Simple question, do you like, dislike, or stand in the middle ground when it comes to electronica and variants thereof, such as trance and whatnot.

Does House music count? If so, yes. Daft Punk is cool.

i like it.

i hate that hardcore techno where its all fast and all synth though.

slower drum beats and cool synth and samples are intense.

i wish i knew the correct genre names, i love that sort of music.

Im listening to some Daft Punk right now

And Im voting 'yay' on the electronica, a lot of it kicks ass, and it is really cool when mixed with hardcore.

I like a lot of Electronic music
but Electronica is just another term to put into place (what kind of "Electronica"?

I like Dark House and types of Dub)

I was using electronica because I thought it was the most open way of reffering to it.

There's the trancy, happy hardcore, tiesto-ish garbage but then there's geniuses like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher. Basically like any genre then.......

I think OP is referring to electronic dance music. There's also hardcore techno, which is also referred to as 'hardcore', so you could be confused...
#21
Yea, all sorts. Aphex Twin, Pendulum, Prodigy, Daft Punk then there's the iconic dance music (of the 90s ), the classics.

Can someone explain what does and doesn't count as electronica?

I've heard it used to describe Radiohead and Beck, but I've also heard it used to mean techno and DDR-music.

Electronica isn't a very good term for it, since it pretty much implies anything created with electronics, so if it has an electronic guitar, it would count. Some Radiohead and Beck fits into what most people consider electronica, though. Kid A, for example.

I love you =] I can't say I was very fond of you when we first started talking because you trolled the hell out of my threads, but after talking to you here I've grown very attached to you.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

Yea, electronic music is great. A true creative leap into orchestration.

...modes and scales are still useless.

I quite enjoy it sometimes. As long as it's at a party and it's loud. I can't sit in front of my computer and listen to it or listen to it on my iPod.
#33
i agree with the person above
i hate dance type electronica at home or whatever
it makes me think i should be at a dance party

but stuff like radiohead and that are alright
so long as its not all dancey

Woah, woah....where's the fun in that?

Seriously, happy-hardcore and euro-trance are fun as to dance to.

And uplifting/anthem trance is equally awesome.
