You got that right. I tried to copy My LP collection into mp3 format using that software. Pretty much garbage for that application.

eh, it'd be ok for that

hook up your record player to your stereo (for the phono preamp) -> run an output from the stereo to your computers line in

set the recording input to line in in audacity

press record

play your LP

select out the individual tracks by hand and go file -> export selection as mp3

before you can do any EQ stuff you might want to do (though its a bit slow :-/)
noise reduction too (but the builtin algorithm isn't that great)
other programs have special pop and hiss reduction features (just go and 'get' Roxio Spin Doctor and be done with it)
