it is good. nice sound. feels like a jazz, can get precision tone and that jazz tone, looks deep and mysterious... go for it.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

That's beautiful.
Aren't the bodies on basses usually much much larger, to get that deep resonating tone?

Also for balance issues. A guitar body with a bass neck generally does not have good results.

Yes! If it has PBass-type neck, it would be perfect for me.

I've had mine for a year or so and so far it looks mint, as in no dings and dents, even with a spastic guitarist in our band. If you're getting the Black one, prepare to wipe it down because it'll show all the paw/fingerprints.

Like so ...

The bassist from one of my favorite bands, Moneen, uses one as his main bass. Although I haven't used one myself, I've always wanted one. I say check it out.

I've never heard anyone ever say "I really regret buying that Fender bass."

Also, Duff McKagen from GnR and Velvet Revolver uses one and he gets a pretty sweet tone through his GK amp.

I own a fender Aerodyne Jazz bass.

In two words

Get it.

I played my friends American standard Jazz and I eneded up liking my Aerodyne better. The tone is absolutely godly if your going for a mid scooping noise. Like Duff McKagan from Gnr or VR. Its got that great high end bass lang sound but the low end it deep and feels amzing.

This is the best bass ive ever played let alone owned

do yourself a favor and get it. I actually just wrote a review for it on guitarcenter.com today. it wont be up for 4 days but when it does read it. Its by the name Drew

i despise every other fender ive played... but i love the aerodyne, i have the mex, americans... all of em, but the aerodyne has the best feel and tone... thats why im a little hesitant in buying this bass.... i hate fender as a company

I can't say anything about the quality first hand, but I've heard nothing but good about them. As for the durability, the body is basswood, which is lightweight but can dent easily. Still, if you're careful, you should be fine. I'd get it

Best live band I have seen.

One of the worst.
It has nothing to do with the bass, I just couldn't hear it at Reading. I don't like the bassist either.

On the other hand, the bass is awesome. I wouldn't have said as good as an American Jazz, but it gives you the instant rock sound without much change needed to be made. When I tried one out, I played stuff I heard it was good for, Rock and Punk, but no Jazz, so I don't know if it's at all versatile.

By the sounds of things and your closed opinion on how Fender suck so badly, I guess you stick to a few genres anyway, so go for it. Hope it changes your mind on Fender, lots of bassists use them, and there's a reason for that.

Those Aerodynes are badass, I played one in GC the other day and I'm deciding between that and a Geddy Lee Jazz for my next bass.

Interesting. It turns out that there are people on the forum who play an upright bass. I'll make a note of that.

IAWTC.

On the bass itself - I played it at GC a few months ago, and I loved it. Lightweight (compared to standard P's and J's) but doesn't lose much tone. I also liked the P and J pickups.

It's a great bass, I played one a few days ago in the store, lightweight, handles picking as well as fingerpicking, can do metal, can do jazz, feels nice, looks nice, comfortable as anything.

and it's a fender so you know it can take hell.

Go for it.
