I was wondering if I could take the pic guard off of my guitar...IM kinda at that point where I feel like making my guitar a little different cosmeticly now the pick gaurd is screwed in on 2 places so when I take it off there will be 2 holes in my guitar right? What are you supposed to do about that? do you think I should take my pic gaurd off? Most Gibsons have it off do you think it would look better? I know it only matters what I think but id just like to know what you guys thought about it

yeah dude totally i think it would look awesome it will probably have the hole where the screws go but you might be able to just fill the holes up with something though im not sure what? Give guitar center a call I think they have a guy that comes in on thursay for that kinda of stuff.
#5
Yup, you'll be left with a couple of small holes but nothing too noticeable. IMO they look better without them, I did the same on mine.

it's actually illegal in 89 countries worldwide. you can get up to 5 years in prison and a $50000 fine.

I'd keep it on, personally I don't think LPs look 'right' without one (which annoys me greatly, owning two without pickguards...). Also, when you take a pickguard off an LP you're left with two holes where the mounting screws were. Those can be filled in but that always looks awful unless you go for an entire guitar re-finish (which would cost as much as simply buying a new guitar of that standard).
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

I think a touch of some dark wood putty would cover that up well. If it makes it stand out more just pick it out.
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

paint the top of the screw black and screw it back in. this way you wont see the hole (or the silver top of the screw) and you have the option to put the pickguard back on.

wow people ignore the holes who the **** cares. it's like complaining about a freakin dent or scratch but the fact is, it's supposed to be there. no one's gonna be like OMGZZZ UR GEETAR GOT SHOT XDXDXDXD

haha, yeah i was sort of kidding. i have an lp so i know where the holes should be.

but honestly, it's such a minor thing. no way someone can see them from a few feet away while you're playing.
in a week you'll forget they're even there.

edit: also if you happen to have a marker with a pin point, you can darken the unfinished wood inside the hole.
