by ISP Decimator... are you talking about the pedal or the rack-mounted one?

EDIT: and as for the microphone, what are you using it for?

Okay, i really dont know much about the rack one, but i know the pedal one is the best noise gate (pedal) you can buy. I know, though, that the rack ones are $400 and up, so you'll have to save for that.

As for the mic, i was gonna say the SM57 for micing your amp, but for vocals, that SM58 is perfect. Good choice!

Pups would be the last on my list, though. They only really make a good tone better... not THAT drastic of a difference. Unless you've got walmart pups in your guitar, haha.

btw, happy birthday! I wish i got that much crap for my b'day... :'(

Well not much beats the T.C electronic G Major for rack fx, G Sharp if you're cheap, like me.

I've talked to some people on the HC forums and a ton of people have had reliability problems with the G-Major, it doesn't happen to everyone though mind you.
Go read the reviews on it and make a decision.

If you do get the G-Major, i wouldn't bother with a Decimator, I've heard the noise gate it has is quite good actually.

The G Sharp is actually preferred by some people. There's less effects, but it's simpler and easier to get used to.
