I've been playin for about a year... Started off with a really crappy and old left handed electric.. upgraded to a seagull s6 acoustic.. and now in dire need of upgrading the electric... The budget is around 450... I don't wanna spend alot but i don't really ahve alot of money ... I listen to a huge variety of music so i want to be able to play em on the electric

Anyways here are th guitars i've been lookin at online :

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/831942482.html

This is semi-hollow, i've never touched a semi-hollow, i don't know the pros and cons of it.. Can you play lot of types of music on this badboy? and how is the body, does it feel like holding an acoustic?

This is a really good deal but i don't like the color and the shape of the guitar... what do you guys think?

and last but not least epiphone les paul
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-musical-instruments-LEFT-HANDED-Epiphone-Les-Paul-Standard-W0QQAdIdZ69287425

I'm favoring this one, even though it's a bit over my budget, i'm hopin to get a discount... also i'm not crazy about the blue color..

Also i was lookin at buyin this one http://www.cort.co.kr/english/products/common/view.asp?product_id=125

It looks kickass, and i heard the pickups on this are amazing, it's brand new, and it's in my budget...

I'm open to more suggestions.. It's just really hard to make a decision, as i don't have alot of technical knowledge in guitars... So any help is appreciated...

What kind of music do you play, first of all? And what kind of amp are you playing through?

I'd say that the Artcore is the best deal. It can play most types of music pretty well. No hi gain stuff, but it shouldn't be too bad for classic rock-esque type of things.

Edit: I didn't see the Cort. I hear alot of good things about Corts. I'd probably go with that or the Artcore.

i like alot of different music but i guess i would most like to play rock, raggae (bob marley and sublime type), jazz, funk... that would be the main...

My amp is something very crappy... i'm thinking of upgrading it after the electric upgrade... it would take a while but oh well.. anyways cort is around 450+tax, brand new and the guy said the pickups in it are one of the best... the color is pretty sweet too i think...

the artcore, i'm still waiting to hear of the model number but i'm worried it might be too big...

and since my amp is shitty... this deal looks even better now

http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-musical-instruments-Left-Handed-Lefty-Electric-Guitar-Package-Amp-Metal-Zone-Pedal-W0QQAdIdZ73052716

it comes with a good amp and ibanez gio guitar... and a kickass pedal all for 500..

do you guys think the guitar is good to play reggae, rock, funk.. type of music.. I dont like the color but a good guitar is a good guitar

That Cort is a very nice looking guitar, especially for the broad styles of music you're into. Just thought I'd mention that. I have no experience with them.

Do yourself a favor and consider this custom shop American made Washburn.
Set neck, Seymour Duncan pickups, hardcase...........it's great deal I was considering but...........I just don't like 3+3 headstocks.
You will not find a better deal than this $1500 axe for 400 and change.

Here comes my answer... do not be surprised.

Fender MIM Strat; HSS if you want it to go into a little rock 'n' roll, possibly metal.

Do yourself a favour and check it out. From the looks of it, you probably wouldn't require the HSS configuration, but it would make it that much more versatile.

hey, sorry but what does the HSS stand for? is it just a model name or something?

also i don't like the shape of strats... that's why i was thinkin of this guitar: http://www.cort.co.kr/english/products/common/view.asp?product_id=125
i really like this guitar, and the shape, the price tag.. and if it's as good as the strat for what the type of music, i would rather get this... just tryin to get a second opinion

Humbucker-Single-Single.

It's the pickup configuration. The cort looks nice.

yea i really like the shape (that must mean stupid and childish to simply go for a guitar for its shape) but i'm hoping its sound and neck and handling it and whatnot, are hopefully good enough for the types of music i play

i would go with the last one depending on it's price. the other ones werent bad except they weren't good deals. you can get a new ibanez artcore for like around $300 and less if it is used. my guitar teacher loves the ibanez artcore and has been playing for like 30 years or something like that. he has been playing that over his many other guitars including american strats and vg strats recently. when i played it, i thought the tuners weren't that great and it played a bit odd for my standards.

best thing to do is go to the biggest guitar center you know that is within driving distance (i drive 1 hour+ to mine just cause it is bigger) and play any guitar that catches your eye. keep the same amp and settings for each guitar you try so you can compare tone. make sure you look at their used ones in particular.

yea the last one is 450 dollars + tax... also keep in mind that these prices are in canadian currency... and there is like a 50 dollar extra because it's left handed

Hmm, I'm still thinking the Strat is the best bet. Really though. The LP is nice (used to own one) but I find having a bridge bucker and 2 single coils is more versatile than 2 humbuckers.
