As in, genre-wise. Do you normally label subgenres at all?

My iTunes is perfect, except for the genres.

I think genres are kinda lame anyway, and I don't look at them so I just kidna ignore 'em.

I tediously organized my iTunes perfectly. It took about 5 days completely, but I finally did it.

Genres are so silly, most bands just ignore them so there's no point in paying attention to them. I have a leftover crack cd (they are like punk/ska/death metal) and when I put it into itunes it came up as reggae haha,

So, use of subgenres (like metalcore, death metal, etc.) or very basic (metal, rock, etc)?

Most of mine have lyrics, all have artwork, but I don't really care about genres.

Hell no. I have the broad genre, and that's it. No sub-genres or anything like that. I love my iTunes all neat and orderly with name, artist, and album, but sub-genres are a little too much.

I make sure everything is organized... except for genres. It's just too much trouble, imo.

I only organize the song names, band names, and album names.

i label sub genres sometimes, like Progressive Jazz Metalcore, but usually it just shows up as the standard metal, thrash metal, rock, black metal, etc.

You mean mathcore?

The standard black, death, thrash, power, progressive metals and then various rocks and then only HUGE names for necessary bands, like Opeth.

"Progressive Death/Black/Doom Metal/Progressive/Folk Rock"

That's what shows up at least

I label all of my subgenres as best as possible, but don't get INSANELY in-depth, like ten words per subgenre.

I just use the one I think/know fits best.

The only exceptions are a few joke ones I did, which were:

3 Inches of Blood- "METAL!!!!!"
Opeth (Orchid/Morningrise)- "Blackened Progressive Melodic Death Metal"

Even though the Opeth one is semi-accurate, I made it that technical as a joke.

i deleted the genre column because its so controversial, but i spent a good week getting all of my songs to each have a name, artist, album, and album artwork which was a pain in the ass. I also rate everything 1-5

Not only have I hidden the genre column, I erase all the unnecessary information from the tags. I hate labeling music; it's a waste of time, and I can tell what kind of music something is by listening to it.

Song name, track number, time, band, year, album. Who the blue hell needs to itemize their music by beats-per-minute?

i keep mine organized just enough so that i can find things i want
^^ i hate unknown artists too
it atcually pisses me off but it takes me a while to do something about it

Well, I personally think genre's are ill-defined, annoying wastes of time. So I don't bother to label those. Everything else, however, is organized SO nicely. I'm very anal about it.

I'm tempted to go on a schpiel. Mostly about how if you ask for metal you might get something completely irrelevant to your tastes but stating a more technical genre (ex: black metal) would be better.

Hey, I did go on a schpiel!
