i'm looking for hi gain distortion pedal for solos, David Gilmour like almost but more controllable feedback. i'm using a boss metal zone right now but i don't really like the tone of it. i tried the boss metal core but i think i can do better.

i run it though an old Ampeg tube combo, has a lot of headroom

any suggestions would be fantastic

David Gilmour

=/= very high gain.

Try a boost or overdrive pedal.
A metal band?
Gear:

My other amp can run Crysis

David gilmour uses a lot of gain.

I'd use a fuzz face and a tubescreamer together.
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

Any kind of pedal with "metal" in the name is not going to be the best choice for david gilmour.
