The whole tone scale is pretty nice in my opinion but it's all about context and how you phrase it.

Any scale can sound alienish if you phrase it right.

Lydian can sound alien at times.

The harmonic minor itself not so much, we're used to it. But modes of it for sure. Modes of melodic minor, too.
