Why only Marshall? Orange and Laney make British voiced amps infinitely superior to the NEW Marshalls.

Also, what's your budget? Does it have to be a half stack (gigging, I assume?). Regardless of that, valve is the way to go.

EDIT: This should be in "Guitar Gear and Accessories"
Gear:
Ibanez S470 (EMG 81/S/85)
Sigma DMC-15E
Laney VH100R
Laney 4x12 Cab
Ibanez Weeping Demon
M-Audio ProKeys 88
Mbox 3 Pro
KRK RP6 G2's
Plum Team FTW!

you only need a half stack if you're playing like ~700 person venues.
and how much do you want to spend
Now officially has too much gear to list

PM me if you want to know about my recording setup

Maybe a JCM800 with an OD pedal to push it into the higher gain stuff?
just go down to your nearest guitar shop and play all the different amps there.

you'd be surprised what you might like/dislike

This would be very nice indeed. Use the amps own (valve) distortion, don't use a pedal's (THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION) and tighten it up with and OD as this guy says.

Just don't get a solid-state amp.
