Well people, I've come to a crossraods guitar-wise (no pun intended).

I love the Jackson RR3, the way it feels, the pickups, everything. I even like the rosewood fretboard, and I don't really like rosewood period.

Jackson RR3, Eerie Dess Swirl

The other guitar is the Agile Reaper Custom, in Black Chancery. After learning it's LFR is recessed, I'm heavily considering this guitar. Killer inlays, ebony fretboard, EMGs, the FR, and it's about $150 cheaper. The only downside is the neck; I love the Jackson's compound radius neck. Never loved a neck so much. But with the extra cash from the Reaper, I could get an OFR (the chrome one is like $170).

Agile Reaper Custom Black Chancery

So, which axe? I really want your guys opinions on this.

PM me if you want to know about my recording setup

I'd do Jackson on this one. But i hate the look of both, i gotta say. Solosist and King V's are the best looking Jacksons.

Well the custom is definitly a beast, but i have no idea on the quality. I like the features on the custom better than the rr, minus the lisence floyd. You should try them both out, if you havent already.

@p_o_e: Opinion, but yes Soloists are nice.

@rocktagAgile are Rondomusic.com exclusives only, so no trying out here. Agile does use many quality parts though.

I dont see why you would buy the agile, only to have to modify it to get the OFR in. The jackson LFRs are very high quality. Not to mention i'd rather have the SD pickups.

XD

I like both sets of p'ups, is the thing. I'd prefer 81TW and 89 though.

I know of the quality of the Jackson LFRs. MIA>MIJ>MIK>MIC.

well it also depends on what you'd play. EMGs would be better for straight up metal, but the SDs could be a lot more versatile, and still pull off metal.

The LFR on the Agile is probably the same, if not just the same quality, as the one on the Jackson. And since you said you'd change it to an OFR and end paying just as much as you would for the RR3, I'd say the Agile hands down.

IMO, the Agile is the bang for buck here when it comes to specs.

Thats not true, imho, the SD's are better, even for metal. But thats all preference. I just dont like how EMG's suck the tone of your guitar away, and how they compress your playing.

I have an expensive ESP with EMG's in it, and the inexpensive Jackson Warrior with SD's in it, and I'd say the Jackson is better for pure heavy metal.

True. I realized why Randy liked SD's so much.

id vote on the Agile. my friend's LFR works amazing, since he set it up himself, and the pick ups are good and the neck is pretty damn awesome. but if ur not into the emg's , might as well get the RR3, though i think they come with Jackson pickups stock? or do i just fail at life?

Nope, SD JB and a '59 I'm pretty sure

Is Sweetwater.com a trust worthy website? I ask because I saw they have 2 tones of the Eerie Dess Swirl Finish. One is the dark swirl and the other one has the vivid purple skin on the sides of the guitar. Purple ftw

Edit: Are they really 2 tones? I'm confused on why that site has 2 different versions
