If the picture hosted on the internet somewhere, right click on it and copy its url. The wording will depend on what browser you're using, in firefox it says "Copy Image Location". You might have to click on properties and then copy the images url from there.

The url of the Les Paul image on your profile for example is:

http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/profile_mojo_data/6/0/4/1/604156/pics/_c290606_image_0.jpg

Once you have that paste it between the image tags, et voila:

Thank for your fast response and complete answer. . .

But it doesn't seem to be working for me as you can see from above. . . what can I be doing wrong?

Okay, I was able to post the pic. . . thanks a million.

I think I understand what you mean above. . . but I'm having trouble figuring out how you know the code for the pic above "LesPaul"?

Is it embedded in the pic?

How will I know what to call the other pics that I have uploaded on my profile if I want to post them. . . because they all have changed names on them and I don't know what to call them except for example "LesPaul" and such?

Where did you come up with "606" from. . . and how will I know what to call the other pics on my profile that I have already changed the names to?

Don't know if you can help me understand this. . . but thanks for all you've done.

The easiest way I have found of doing this is to just get an account with photobucket.com and uploading my pics to my account there. Once the pic is uploaded you get a selection of different codes below the pic in question. You can just copy the code in the IMG field and paste it directly into your post/response. Photobucket automatically puts it into the image tags for you.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking but I'll try to explain this as clearly as I can.

All pictures on the internet will have their own URL. This URL is sometimes referred to as the address or location.

To post an image on the forums you need to post the image's URL wrapped in image tags like this: [IMG]The images' URL here[/IMG]. That's what we did before with the 'Les Paul' picture.

To obtain the image's URL you need to right click on the actual picture, then on the box that pops up click on 'Properties', which is usually at the bottom of the list. Another box will pop up with some information about the image, and should look someting like this:

Mmmmm Keira Knightley...

Anyway, what you want is the URL, which in this example it's called the 'Address (url):'

Highlight that URL (http://www.topnews.in/light/files/Keira-Knightley.jpg) right click, copy, and then paste it in to your post with [IMG][/IMG] tags around it.

You can use this same method on any picture you find on the internet.

So for example: if you have uploaded an image to your profile, go to the page that image is on, say this page with your pic of a SRV bike tank. Right click on the image, go to properties, copy the url (the SRV tank pic url is http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/profile_mojo_data/6/0/4/1/604156/pics/_c287724_image_0.jpg) paste that in your post and wrap it with image tags.

Which should look like this:

[IMG]http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/profile_mojo_data/6/0/4/1/604156/pics/_c287724_image_0.jpg[/IMG]

and if you've done that right the image will come display thus:

As I said this will work for any image you find on the internet. If an image is on your computer you will need to upload, or host, it somewhere. Which is what you've done by uploading the SRV tank picture to UG. Other places you could upload to for free are http://imageshack.us/ and photobucket, although if you want to use photobucket you'll need to register an account.

I hope that helps, but if you have any more questions fire away.

YES!!!!

Now, I get it. . . I'm using an old iMac. . . right click is worthless. . . but I can find properties and it's crystal clear now. So the image insertion is just a pic address that changes according to whoever is hosting it. . . gotcha. I hope your getting paid. . . you should be. Thanks for such detailed response.
