Hey, Ok so in like 2 weeks there is a memorial service for my mother (she passed away ten years ago) and i want to play a song at it but i cant think of any i need acoustic songs that like celebrate life, or talk about death (but not like very grim). preferably something with mostly open chords so i can sing along with it easily.
thanks

tears in heaven by Eric Clapton , only two problem is the singing a bit high, and not sure if it would be a good one or not, being that he wrote it about his son.

but yeah, hope you find a good song

Out Of Time by Blur...easy to play and sing....lyrics are nice but hope you don't think to grim!

Maybe you could try strumming the chords for Winter by Joshua Radin, or try finger picking it a bit.

If I could by Jack Johnson

I think the lyrics really work...

Best wishes from my part, man.

here's part of the lyrics:

Down the middle drops one more
Grain of sand
They say that
New life makes losing life easier to understand
Words are kind
They helped ease the mind
I'll miss my old friend
And though you gotta go
We'll keep a piece of your soul
One goes out
One comes in

Tonight by F.M. Static. Girl at my school sang it at the talent show last year for her boyfriend that was killed in a car wreck. Sent chills down my spine.

TS, I hoestly think Tonight is one of the best songs you could play. And I'm sorry about your mom. I can't imagine living without mine.
