Peavey is pretty basic in my opinion. what you need, good sound, never super impressive. Ashdown is at least fresher sounding. also, look into Acoustic.

Seeing as how they are in similar price ranges, would somebody mind giving me--COUGH, the threadstarter a rundown on the differences between Ashdown and Acoustic?

without breaking into tone, I'd say Acoustic has more EQ options, while Ashdown has more little bells and whistles.

tonally, I'll just say I find Acoustic is just normal. it's kinda vintageish, but not enough to easily pass off as vintage sounding. it doesn't really favor a specific range, like, say, Marshall and those heavy lows. but it has a very definite air to it, and with the AB50, a very solid punchiness to the bass. I haven't played Ashdown in a while, and can't recall the exact tone. sorry.

Don't apologize to me, it's for the threadstarter!

But, since Ashdown was made by an ex-employee of Trace-Eliot, I would think it would sport a similar sound. Which is a good thing if so.
