Mother Love Bone is actually an influential band, in the grunge music genre. Much of Mother Love Bone's music was composed of hard rock influenced by 1970's bands such as Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and others(Even the underrated Tommy Bolin.) This band was a famous Seattle band that formed out of the ashes of Green River and Malfunkshun, two pre-grunge bands that are predecessors of the genre. Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, who were part of MLB and Green River, actually went on to form Pearl Jam. A lot of Mother Love Bone's funk-rock style can be seen in Pearl Jam's early albums.

Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone died of a heroin overdose and this effectively ended the band. The members of Soundgarden and future Pearl Jam members recorded a tribute album to him as the Temple of the Dog.

Is that a ukulele in your pants, or did you just rip ass to the tune of "Aloha Oi"?

I met Sonic Youth on June 30th, and Mars Volta on Oct 20th.

This is probably gonna get closed, but, I very much enjoy love bone. Chloe Dancer/ Crown of Thorns is amazing, as is This is Shangrila.

Well I don't think it will. I can't remember if there was ever one on here. It just so hard to only talk about pretty much one album. Its kinda like the Temple of the Dog thread. Its fun but, how many times can you say something about a song before you have already said liek four times.

I think there should just be a pearl jam side projects thread

edit: I know mlb isn't a side project and neither is green river but its just easier to say.

thats different tho, most people are like "ew grunge" besides the major threads are good, but PJ has so many side projects and solo albums it makes sense for them to have a seperate thread.

Edit: I shall run that by Cag *runs off to talk to the great Cagnius*

MLB wasn't though. It was part of th grunge scene, Plus nobody here will say ew because most of them listen to grunge. I mean MLB would probably still be around if Wood would have not ODed.

yeah but there's not enough to discuss in one thread, Andy died before they could take off. Theres not much to talk about other than apple.

The EP "Shine" is pretty damn good album, though, so If you haven't heard Thru Fade Away, Mindshaker Meltdown or Half Ass Monkey Boy then you need to pick it up, if you can find it. Otherwise you can get the compilation Stardog Champion which includes those songs + Apple.

Great band and another American grunge tragedy...
