I checked the searchbar and nothing came up, so Pit, I need your help. I want to buy a car for myself, but I can't afford one over $1000 right now. Did any of you guys get a cheap car that runs well for under $1000, and if so, what kind? Any help is appreciated.

Note: I can't really wait and earn more money because I need to travel to and from work a lot and I can't keep using my mom's car.

I posted this in the last one, but yeah, some old dude in a McDonalds in Alabama called me an aardvark.

i'd say keep saving and buy something reliable, rather than buy some 600 dollar escort.

well if you don't have to travel that far, a scooter would be aces. Of course you will never get any ass whatsoever, but hey, you'll save on gas.

I agree. Most of them time when people try to purchase cheap cars, they spend more fixing them up and repairing them. It's wiser to just save up and get something better, and more reliable.
I don't know why Mac users get so defensive when you call them idiots. I mean, Apple is a company that has built its entire user base around the fact that its users can't do simple things like turn their computers on.

I guess its possible to get a decent running, fairly reliable vehicle that is still in somewhat good shape. The boys at Top Gear did it, and it seemed to work for them. Although if I recall, I remember the way Jeremy purchased his was a fluke because he found some loop hole on how to buy it for $1 etc. Anyhow, although decent cars in your price range are out there, I highly doubt you'll find one. Save up more $$$$$.

I'm 17 and just purchased a 04' trailblazer...(and yes I'm paying for it).
Easy to say. I don't know for US and other countries but over here in Quebec, CAN, insurances cost you two arms and a leg on recent cars. I thought about buying something like a Mazda 3 since I liked the feel of the car, but that damn thing would've cost me over 2000$ a year. Got a VW Golf '97 for a bit more than two thousand and costs me 500$ a year for the insurances.

Probably not, at the time I was trying to make a point by saying it, but after re-reading it, its useless.

My bad.
