Ok. so i was wondering, first of all, can the chord formation

1
1
2
3
x
x

be moved any where up and down the fretboard?

two, did i imagine this, or is there a chord formation that, for example, goes like this:

1
2
1
3
x
x

?

if so, can it be moved up or down?

Thats pretty much it. Thanks.

well the first chord is an F, do you want it to stay an F or just keep the shape?
Keep the change, pimps don't jangle
#3
either way, this is an F too:

5
6
5
x
x
x

and this would be a G:
3
3
4
5
x
x

and A:
5
5
6
7
x
x

etc...

k. so... ya. i wanna keep the shape but change the position. so... i can do that... but... do i have to keep it on naturals, or can i move it to sharps and flats as well? like could i go

4
4
5
6
x
x

or do they have to be

1
1
2
3
x
x

3
3
4
5
x
x

5
5
6
7
x
x

7
7
8
9
x
x

9
9
10
11
x
x

etc, whatever?

and again, is

1
2
1
3
x
x

a valid shape?

if it is, can i change its position?

There is no such thing as "valid" chords. A chord shape will sound like a chord anywhere on the guitar. The first shape is just a major chord shape. The second is just a minor 7th shape. There both pretty basic chords.
#6
ok. so an example of minor 7th would be

1
2
1
3
x
x

or

1
1
2
3
x
x

?

also, can u move them ANYWHERE up/down, or can you only put them on naturals?

thanks.

I've just read this thread...

Lolopop...you can put those 'reggae shapes' ANYWHERE on the fret-board depending what key you want the song to be in etc...it doesn't matter what fret you put them on...they're still work.

There's shapes for Minor or Major etc...I'll post the most popular shapes here:

(Remember they can be played on ANY fret)

MAJOR:
------

Example = G Major:

e|--3------
B|--3------
G|----4----
D|------5--
A|---------
E|---------

e|--7-----
B|----8---
G|--7-----
D|--------
A|--------
E|--------

e|--10------
B|------12--
G|------12--
D|------12--
A|----------
E|----------

MINOR:
------

Example = G Minor:

e|--3----
B|--3----
G|--3----
D|-------
A|-------
E|-------

e|--6-------
B|-------8--
G|----7-----
D|----------
A|----------
E|----------

e|--10--------
B|-----11-----
G|--------12--
D|------------
A|------------
E|------------

Hopefully that all makes sense...not easy to make it clear without actually showing someone in person...

I use these shapes all the time...they also work particularly well if you pick them arpeggio style as a second guitar riff.
