hey guys

well, my mate was sent a fender squier teleacster from his relos (for his b'day), worth $500 AUS. he didn't play it because he bought an Epiphone SG for his birthday. We decided to jam today and i actually didn't mind the sound of it surprisingly.

Anyway, he said he would sell it to me for $80 (i reckon is practically a steal for a $500 guitar, and he's probably an idiot). My current guitar is awesomeosaurus, but i would like to have another guitar that i could take places etc. and not "care"about it as my other guitar.

is this a good deal???
EDIT: Yea, so i am buying it, how should i modify it, need a few tips

A basic Squier here in the states costs about $150-$300, depends on which you chose, and I take into account that you guys pay double what we do for instruments. In my opinion, if it is in good condition, it's a good deal if you actually like the instrument quite a bit. I don't like squier, but if you do, then that is a great price to buy it for.

I'd buy it. Everyone 'hates' Squiers, even though they are brilliant guitars after a set up. The QC is sometimes dodgy, but you can 'do it yourself' and get a really nice playing, and sounding, guitar.

I have a Squier Telecaster. It cost me US $200. I put Seymour Duncans in it: Little 59T in the bridge and 59 full size humbucker in the neck position. I love this thing. I play it just as often as I do the Gibson Les Paul.
