Hey, in the market for a new practice amp.

My bidget is between £100-200 and I play a wide variety of genres specifically metal or the progressive variety so good distortions and cleans would be useful (I am aware that I'm not going to get quality crushing metal tones from an amp of this price).

I've done a bit of research and I'm interested in the Vox AD30VT.

Any advice is welcome.

Roland Cube 30 or 60.
Ibanez RG321MH (Air Classic/Tone Zone)
Fernandes Telecaster (Twang King/stock bridge pickup)
Blackstar HT-20 (Scumback 55 speaker/ Tung Sol tubes)
TC Electronic Nova Repeater
Lava Cables Clear Connect, Soar and Mini ELC

i'd get a line 6 spider iii 30 watt, it has lots of amp models so you can have an idea of what you want in the future.

are you serious?please TS do not buy a spider IMO they are way to digital, look for a cube or vypyr,They have lots of effects and don't sound so digital as the spider
EDIT:if you have the ability to try out the amps then do it.u don't want to buy something and later regret it.

Don't worry I will not be purchasing a Spider, I'm aware of the horrible digital tone the provide. And sadly I haven't got the chance to try any of these amps out as I live in the middle of nowhere, which is a shame.
I will definately look into the cube and the vypyr.

Any other suggestions?

what do you mean by digital, like an effect pedal, i feel like a fool for asking, but aren't the effects supposed to be digital?
#7
are you going ss or tube?also how much $ is your budget?

No the actual amp models on the amp sound a lot more digital than other modelling amps.

well the thing is they dont sound ''organic'' as most other amps do,compare it with a roland or vypyr, u will hear the difference.

Let's say $200-250. I would like tube but it's not very realistic at the price.
#12
okay, your right .tubes arent very realistic at that price.except maybe the epi valve junior. Have you taken a look into that one yet?

It doesn't quite contain the Hi-Gain tones that I require.
#15
how high are you wanting to go?maybe a ts-9 will clear away that problem.
EDIT: also do you want nice cleans too?

So the general feeling seems to be towards the Roland, no love for the vox's?

Again all other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the help.

Anyone else with any opinions?

There aren't a lot of amps in that price range that excel at metal with great cleans. You should try the Cube and Vypyr and see what you think, try the Vox as well. I have a SS Vox that does metal pretty well, but metal is not what I play most.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.
