Ok, well I just bought an used american strat and I love it ever so much. But anyway the guy I bought if from had 12 gauge strings on it and I love the feel and sound of them alot more then what I have been playing (10's)

So I'm just wondering if I put 12's or even 13's on my epi les paul will it hurt the neck? Considering a Les paul is a tad bit shorter then the strat and it has a hardtail.

I just wanna make sure I don't hurt it.

Edit: I keep it either in standard or a half step down depending on what I'm playing. No drop C or any of that bull.

It's a hardtail. If you had a floyd or other trem, you'd need to adjust. you might need to reset intonation, but its not going to mess your guitar up, dude.
I'm putting my GAS on hold
for a couple months in order to pimp my ride.

Don't judge me.

Nah that gauge shouldn't do much to it. Now if you put some 60 gauge on there, you may have to adjust the neck a lil.

I wanna hear more about your Strat!

Post it in the Stratlover's Thread with Pics please.

So what strings are you going to put on straty? I accidentally cut off my 10's the other night 'cause I thought I had 11's and to my surprise....

i had 3 packs of .09's only.
...ouch

sorry to get off topic, yeah, hardtails can take string tension better obviously.
