Ok guys, this might be a long shot but....

Local radio station is having a contest to find an actual, physical "9" hidden somewhere around my town. I know most of you probably aren't from here but my goal here is to have someone foreign of the town to look at these clues and give me their perspective. Maybe its harder for a townie to look at these because they think of landmarks around here. With a pair of fresh eyes, they could think of a general idea, or object and I could relate this to something in town. SO! Here is the website, the clues are on the main page!:

GO GO, smart people!!

Between 8 and 10....Streets maybe? or buildings? West past the Gardens, and East past construction. You should know where that is.

The 9 is Miles from home

why is miles capitalised, is there a place, other than "mile one" with Miles in it's name?

^I was trying to find a place like that, but no luck so far.

Did someone watch that new movie Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist?
(in the movie they search around town looking for clues that the radio station gives them)

The 9 is black
The 9 can shine
The 9 is white
The 9 is close to gold

Some kind of jewel?
Or close to Gold, e.g. Mold? Cold? Fold?

Some of the clues contradict themselves, unless they mean something else like Blayney was getting at.

The 9 is Miles from home
The 9 is close to home

You could find the 9 between 8 and 10
The 9 is not surrounded by other numbers

This is pretty confusing lol

So we know what sort of area it's in anyway right? cos it says it's in 709, which is some sort of area code right?

"You must stop before you find the 9"
Maybe it's after a stop sign/traffic light?

"The 9 is over 20 years old"
Well that rules out a lot of things.

"The 9 is at a convenient location"
Convenient implies easy to get to, i.e. infrastructure, car park space, etc

"Maximum 60"
Speed limit

They are all really simple but yeah...

Some of the clues just really throw you off, like

The 9 is not in one piece

This stuff is hard. Most thinking I've done in a while
