Plug the microphone and guitar to the inputs. That's it. As for latency, download the latest drivers here and it shouldn't be an issue. It comes with enough software to record multi-track material two inputs at a time.

hey thanks!
i gotta question though
from the looks of it, it seems like it only meant for microphones
can i use this for guitar pickups and an output of my amp? (with the 1/4" inch cable)

The inputs are instrumental too, so yes, you can connect it with a guitar without second thoughts. The only concern would be for the line-level of your amp. If you want the output of your amp, get a direct box like this which will convert it to a microphone signal. Then connect that to the box (use a mike cable).

so if i connect the amp directly, it will sounda kind of weird?
and this little direct box thing will make it sound better and I can connect the amp directly (with this) to the interface?
thanks for all the help!

Yes the onyx is firewire. You get a free copy of Tracktion 2 which is a wonderful DAW (recording software). Very easy to use.

If you're EQ'd loose, you'll sound loose anyway.

Well, yeah, the amp output is not what the USB device is expecting...the levels and resistance levels are too different. I won't go into the technical detail, but yeah, by doing that, you can record using your amp. Just plug the amp into the box with 1/4 balanced cable, then connect the box to the interface with mike cable.

And the posters above me haven't read the original one. I would've recommended the Satelite and Inspire IF he could have Firewire.
