I'm in Newcastle although I didn't know it was on today. But the red arrows were here so that was pretty cool.

The Great North Run is a big running event in Newcastle (where I live). It's a half-marathon of 13.2 miles starting at Spital Tongues (I lve here!) and going down to the city centre, across the Tyne Bridge and finishing in South Shields.

There are three categories- professionals, who are running it as a race, charity runners who are the ones who dress up in costumes and usually are sponsored by people to raise money for charities, and the semi-pros, who do the same as the pros except they're usually slower, finishing in about 2-3hours.

^ I guess I would run in the pro race. My 1/2 time is about 1:28.

Usually you'd have to be part of a pro-running team to do that...
