I have an Epiphone LP special, it has gotten noisy this past few days. The hum is most loud when in mid volume. I think it is "grounded". The connections are good, solder job is well. I am still getting an irritating hum. What could be the defective component? thanks

Prolly your amp, most likely your cable. I've had a problem like this in the past as well.
Get a new cable and it'll all go away.

Sounds most likely to be a dry connection somewhere. The soldering could look fine, but it may not be forming a proper electrical connection - re-solder to check.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

Check so that your ground is still connected to the bridge pole.
