so i'm 17 and i just can not get in a sleeping pattern were i can get up at 7 or 8am and not be tired, i have no trouble on weekends or holidays coz i get 2 sleep in...

does anyone else have similar problems, stories or ways to help me. that would be much appericated...thanks in advance =]

Just last week, I had some issue where I was sick and crazy stressed out. The end result was that I'd stay up 'til ridiculous hours every night, and couldn't get to sleep no matter no tired I actually was. So I woke up tired every morning for classes, and spent most of the evening to tired to concentrate on the work I had to do. It sucked.

I'd try staying up late one night, so that you're tired enough at some early hour the next so you can get a good night's sleep. Or just try using alcohol or intense physical activity to solve your problem, since that worked pretty well for me.
There will probably be a signature here at some point.

As I've posted before, I've been an insomniac for years and years.
(before it was cool...)

Right now is about my 30th hour awake.
I think...I'm not sure.
It might be more than that.
But I can sleep as little as 10 or so hours a week.

Force yourself up, and into a shower in the morning.
That'll wake you up. Just do it the moment your alarm goes.
It's odd - you'll eventually just notice your brain waking up.

its been holidays, which means staying up untill 3am, and waking up at 2pm..

i have to woke up at 6:30am tomorrow for school

I'm pretty sure thats not insomnia, its just something that happens to all teenagers. I think its called growing.

I tend to get away with it for a few days before I fall asleep mid afternoon, and I get the same thing. I have grand plans of sitting and actually practising properly instead of noodling around for half hour, then I get home and I just wanna sit in front of the computer or sit/lie down.

Drugs. Fluffy pillows. Hot chocolate. Drugs. A nice bed. Drugs. Having a bath or shower. Exercising gently. Drugs.

Just a few things that could help you.

But it certainly isn't insomnia; just a holiday sleeping pattern.

Do a lot of physical labor during the day(I dunno; helping 5 people move out of 5 houses in one day; cutting grass on 7 football fields with a push mower, something.). So much that it hurts to move. As soon as you go into your room and lay down; you'll be out before you know it.

knock some springs up through your matress, it'll wake you up quick enough.

Get up at the same time each day, eventually the tiredness will catch up with you and you'll begin to get into a decent sleeping pattern.

If you lie in bed unable to sleep, then get up, don't lie there thinking about shit. Then go back to bed when your knackered.

speak of the devil, Ive been having periods of insomnia for over a year now, i think its related to my health. And its graduly got worse from getting 4 hours a night to none at all.
I havent slept since 11 oclock the night before last

Sleep insomnia? Insomnia is the inability to sleep, so there's no need to write sleep. Food insomnia would not mean the inability to eat, in fact it would be nonsensical, as was your statement.

Go to bed earlier and drink a glass of warm milk.

I've had insomnia (to a variety of degrees) since I was 15 (i'm 18 now) and there's a few things I do. Most of them are muscle relaxation ones which are always good fun, breathing properly and stuff.

There's the ever common "fap", which will release endorphins and help you sleep. Yes, i'm being serious.

And then there's the "I'm not going to sleep so lets to do something constructive" which is what I do. And did, all through highschool. I did all my highschool assignments at 2 or 3am the day before they were due. If that meant I didn't sleep that night then so be it. I would constantly survive school weeks on less than 2 or 3 hours sleep a night.

just find something that works for you mate.

That's just a poor sleep pattern. Go to bed earlier. The first time take nyquill or something and get to bed around 10 or so, then you'll be able to wake up early.

I have an 8am class everyday, and that's what I have to do sunday nights because I'm up late and sleep in on weekends, and you need to get your sleep pattern back on schedule.
