A Bare-Breasted Liberty Finally Meets Her Outraged Public:

On January 17 of 1917, the bare-breasted Standing Liberty Quarter finally entered circulation, and the outcry was immediate and loud. Religious leaders used words like "obscene" and "filthy" to describe the visage of our beautiful Miss Liberty with her breast exposed. Citizens' groups rallied their memberships to lobby Congress to have the disgusting coin recalled. Congress had little choice but to submit to the clamor. The bare-breasted Liberty Quarters began disappearing from circulation.

First off I realise that it is in 1917 but tell that this wouldn't happen today.
Seriously it's not like kids aren't going to know that women have tits.
Are the Europeans as pissy as this, seems like you at least see art as art.

Am I allowed to post a pic?

If you could see her breasts, you'd get a whole lot of pre-pubescent boys walking around New York with erections.

You don't want that do you?

Sex having a stigma attached to it goes back to the victorian era where people where taught to be very ashamed of their anatomy, and that sex should only be done for reproduction.
#5
...."are the europeans as pissy as this?"

You realize that is is this country (the USA) that has the problem with anything remotly sexual right?

Ok but why, what is the reason for that?

Yea American society is very uptight bout nudity. Its most specifically the religiously hardheaded who make everyone else suffer for their choice of beliefs. Either way, theres plenty of other ways to see some boobs. Not really interested in breaking one off over Lady Liberty on a coin.

What is the point of unclothing her? Stupid really. Now if she normally was bare breasted it wouldn't be a problem, but it is dumb to take off her robe just to make her bear breasted.

Sex is barely stigmatised these days. In the late 1800's, early 1900's, sex was taboo whilst death was an openly talked about subject. Complete flipside now. Hell, a bare leg was filthy and obscene back then (legs were referred to as "unmentionables" in Victorian England for example). It was just the taboo of the time, and it changes.

I'm not ether, but this is like saying that we sould make a cow cover its udder.

The statue's boobies are covered and so should Lady Liberty on the coin.

Madame Liberty is traditionally bare breasted, so there's no problem there.

Remember the uproar about the superbowl mistake?
Didn't the men get aroused by table legs back then?

It's because of the human nature. The human kind is the cancer of this planet. Hypocritical to the bone. Most people (even nowadays) live in denial. It's really complex, and English is not my mother language, so I can't really get it right. Long story short, people prefer to pretend than to be real to themselves and to others.

Dunno, but table legs were to be covered as well. I think it might have been like hentai to the Victorians... but with less tentacle rape.

Yeah the whole sex is a bad thing is stupid and if nudity is shown in art then it should be fine . I hate how were taught (in the US anyway) that sex is a horrible thing and if you do have sex premaritally you will surely get every STD ever and die the whole thing is retarded because I'm sure no one is anti-sex. Nudity shouldn't be the cause of outrage other things like murder and rape and the failing economy and health care in america should be whats pissing off americans.

All the people who say it is religion ok but Europe was chritian and existing LONG before U.S.

Europe has it's taboos too, be sure of that I'm from Greece, which isn't exactly European, more of a West/East mixture.. If you got tattoo's and piercings you are considered somewhat of an outcast here, but nudity in art wouldn't be that "hardcore" for people here.. We are used to it through history and stuff It's not bad to show off some skin

I agree. We must look to the Lord for guidance on this heinous subject.
