I have a fender deluxe amp and i was wondering what could i do to improve it...
I was thinking about a speaker because i think the stock one is starting to go bad.
Any suggestions?
and how much does the speaker have to do with the amp distorting at higher volumes?
any help here is appreciated

I too have the deluxe112 plus amp but mine is a 50th anniversary model with the custom shop speaker and from what I have read it it very much better than the stock speaker, I can happily turn the volume right up and it will not distort.

What makes you think the stock one is "going bad"? Speakers don't go bad.

I was going to ask the same thing.

Probably the tubes, not the speaker.

I can hear it flappin around sometimes. I dont really know how to explain the noise. Sort of a fabfab kinda sound. I've asked some people since i posted this and they thought it was the speaker too... All the tubes are still good.

Like you blew it out? I didn't know you could do that with tube amps.

Well as far as i know any speaker is capable of being blown...
I can't really turn it up loud without getting that kinda flappy noise.

If you don't like the speaker then get a new one, doesn't matter if it's "going bad" or if you just don't like the sound. I'd recommend asking in the ultimate speaker thread, as Mr. Carrot and the other guys who answer everything have a good understanding and experience with a variety of speakers.

Is that your amp? Or this?

Which is it? Just to settle the bad tube issue, the first amp is SS. Either way the ultimate speaker thread is a good place to find Mr Carrott and speaker options. I like red fangs, but there are some other great speaker options out there.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.
