i have no price range.

You probably do and should share it to get actual realistic intelligent responses. Or the best shot at them.

If you have no price range, I'll tell you to get a Bogner, someone else will say top end ENGL and Goolz will probably tell you to get a Matamp. If you can seriously afford anything, have a look at a Bogner Shiva or Uberschall.

EDIT: You have no money? Well then save like hell for the Shiva.

The Shiva is a good amp, but I wouldn't use it if all he wants to play is metal.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Uberschall then. I don't know much about metal amps cause I'm not a metalhead, but I know they got a sh*load of gain.
