Yeah, so for some reason when ANY open string is plucked, some tuning knobs on my acoustic start to rattle, loudly and annoyingly. I'm not sure why at all. I tried tightening the screws on the tops of the knobs, it helped but not much. What the hell is the problem? I have to take my guitar to school tomorrow for a project I'm doing and i really cannot have it do this to me!

It's mostly the Low E at times and the D string. Every so often its all the strings(the higher the string the weaker the rattling obviously)

I haven't cut the strings off the ends but that doesn't appear to be the problem. If I hold the tuning knob tightly with two fingers, the knob the string is on, the rattling is weaker and not as noticeable...

are they the kind with the screws visable on the back that look liek they screw into the headstock or do they have a kind of cover on them

take the cover off and tighten those screws, or if those are the ones you did

tighten the ones on the end of the tuners

edit, this is what i mean by the ones without the cover on them

Tape them in place or something so they stay put, if you're desperate. If not... I don't know what to tell you...

Is there such a thing as a heavy riff with out chugging on the e string?

take a ratchet and tighten the washer/nut on the face of the headstock. It's the flat dodecadon shaped thing that the tuner pokes up through. tighten it.
