I've been GASing for a new pedal lately and through selling some football tickets ive got some money that isnt already alloted to something (being a poor college student) I've been looking at some cheaper synthy auto-wahs and i found these two

http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-SB7-Synthesizer-Bass-Pedal?sku=150237

http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product?sku=150828V

but came across this new pedal from ehx

http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ElectroHarmonix-Bass-Metaphors-Compressor-Pedal?sku=528003

I cant seem to find any reviews on it, none on Harmony central or TB, so does anybody know anything about the Bass Metaphors?

which one should I get

The bass metaphors is a cheap all in one box, with EQ, basic distortion and on or off compression. I believe bassfuzz.com has a review.

Metaphors isn't a synth pedal, just an Eq/distortion/compressor. If you want that type of overdrive pedal then that's the way to go. If you want synth wah, get the digitech. It rocks. It has 8 different settings (including sub-octave) and quite a few different synth and auto-wah capabilities.

ok let me clarifiy, i'm not looking at the bass metaphors as a synth wah, but as just another option for changing my sound

Unless you are desperate for a way to have basic EQ, distortion and compression functions in a stompbox/DI box, then I would skip on it. It is very basic, and a dedicated compressor, overdrive or EQ pedal could probably do far more.

The metaphors basically sounds like fret buzz in a box, don't do it.

I could be very, very wrong, but I've heard that most cheap bass synth pedals are almost hard to get even remotely usable tones out of. i don't know, I'm just going on what I've heard. I don't know if it's out of your price range, but good auto-wah to check out is this

One of the reviews mentions even getting a flange sound out of it. I don't know how well that would work, but it would be cool to try.
