Ok so yesterday I made a thread about Ibanez ToneBlasters, and UG said they suck. Hard. Anyways, is there any other amp recommendations?

Genre: Metal (all forms)

Price: Around $500 (maybe a little more, little less)

Preferably solid-state

Also, i have heard good things about Randall amps. How are they for an extremely high-gain sound?

Any and all help is appreciated

It's for my bandmate. We play small gigs. I had to steer him away from a ToneBlaster for his new amp lol.

Why solid state? Why not get an amp that your mate will like and use for a long time? Try out some tube mteal amps and compare them to solid state ones. Please do this before getting a SS amp so you don't waste your bandmates money.

Flextone would be the obvious choice.

Any reason why SS only? Just curious, not bashing

That Flextone is a little high, but it's Canada so... I played one, it was a very good amp. I didn't try to get metal out of it so try first obviously. It was a good hard rock amp tho.
