Ok, I'm really sorry if this kind of topic doesn't belong here. It's been a LONG time since I haven't come here.

I've finally started back playing and I realize that I don't know ONE single scales.

I'm trying to compose but without knowing scales, it sucks.

So can anyone tell me which and what scales I need to start with? What should I know about scales and all.... Thanks.

Start with all the notes of the fretboard and the major scale and go from there, those two things are where everything else comes from.

I don't know scales either, but I just play whatever note sounds best after the first, if you're playing and composing long enough, you'll learn to recognize by ear if it sounds well

okay so i love how noone has actually helped him except for steven....

but yea dude, start with chromatic scale (all the notes)

A A#/Bb B C C#/Db D...... and so on and so forth. Im sure you probably know that alread

but then i suggest learning the Major scale.
CDEFGABC is C major scale, easy kus theres no accidentals.
Theres many ways to remember and play major scales
ppl know it by saying the orders of half steps and whole steps
WWHWWWH that fits any major scale
theres many ways to learn

after that i suggest moving to nautral minor. and if you really get comfertable and wanna try something different, go for domiant, harmonic minor, or melodic minor.

hope i helped
