I've only been playing for about 7 months, and for those of you who follow know,I've been having teacher issues.I've been feeling disgusted and uninspired by the whole thing and have been very close to giving it all up. I find that thought of some blues basics sounds cool..........what do you think and will my Martin be good for learning some blues??

Any guitar is good for learning pretty much anything. Especially as acoustic is concerned.

Learn the Pentatonic minor and the blues scale. Those will get you off to a great start. Also, learn the 12-bar blues to get an idea of song structure. There should be a few good tutorials in the 'lessons' section of the main U-G site.

Also, 7th chords give a nice blusey feel. Try G, G7, C, C7, D, D7.

As songs go, I'd suggest "Life by the Drop" by Stevie Ray Vaughn
