selling a Marshal avt and some other things to raise some money for a tube amp.
mostly it will be used for a classic rock/heavy indie band but also for practice at home playing metallica type metal

A Marshall JCM 800 or 900 combo if your lucky, I prefer 800's but 900's generally go cheaper.

i'd go with a laney vc30, you can get that new for like £297 (though postage and the footswitch would bring it slightly over budget).

used, if you're very lucky, you might manage a vox ac30cc or orange rocker 30.

none of those would be amazing for metallica, of course, but it's probably more sensible to get an amp which suits the tones you need for gigging- you could get a booster/eq/distortion pedal later if you wanted...
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
