Hey Guys,

my friend's amp broke so he's looking to buy another one, he's got a budget of £300-400 and plays metal/hardrock and his guitar is an Ibanez Rg321mh.

Thanks very much

Well he's not in a band or anything so just something for home use although it'd be nice if it had abit of beef as well.

That kind of money can buy a serious amount of amp for home use. The Roland Cube is fantastic and even the top of the range 60w is only £148. The new Peavey Vyper is also very good and is easily within your budget. Alternatively, a good used valve amp would be very good. There is a possibillity I may be selling mine which would be at the lower end of his budget and has upgraded valves and speaker included.

I'd recomend a marshall DSL 401 (there small but they pack a punch) but if he wants a metal tone he'd have to get a pedal aswell (Boss ds-1, Metal zone or somthing like that), cause the built in distotion only does blues and ac/dc type rock. I use a zoom G9 fx console which gives me great tones with mine.

Second hand Laney VC50? Or a VC30 with a boost pedal?

I may be selling my Laney Vc50 soon. Awesome amp and within your budget!
