hey, you know those thing you put on your neck for shred so if you accidently hit the wrong string it doesnt ring out? they kind of look like wrist bands or sweat bands

what are they really called, are they worth the money and hoe much do they cost

also are they quick to remove if need be?, ive heard a sock works just as well

My bro just uses an wrist band that he cut smaller.

I think you can get them at GC, but its not worth the money...

Its relatively quick to remove, his sheds though.

EDIT:

You should not use it to mute accidentally hit strings however!!! You need to practice muting the other strings with your fingers and palms!

My brother uses it for tapping, you get a clearer sound, thats it. I use it to tap on my bass too.

Oh yeah, and if guitar hero got you into the guitar? you're really playing for the wrong reasons.

there is no wrong reason to play a guitar, except for world enslavement and extermination of certain races, but those guys never make it big anyway.

you can also mute your strings that you dont use with the palm of your right hand, with the heel of your thumb, ...
You dont need some kind of string damping device. Learn to damp it properly.
