I have some really large photos I'd like to post using
[img][/img]
tags.

Is there anything I can do to shrink them down using those tags? Such as,

[img="400,600"][/img]

..or something like that?

I'm not sure if those tags would work. Just resize them on your computer on paint or something before uploading :]

Thanks for the advice, but I don't want to download these pictures and then upload them to UG - partly because they're huge, but mostly because I don't like how they end up formatted when you upload them.

I'm familiar with html code - I wonder if there is some variation from that for vB on UG.

There's a list of the vB code commands and examples of their usage, here:

you know, you could get a photobucket account and store the modified images there. then link to them with the url of each image inside the img tags.

Thanks.

I read through that list before making this thread, and saw that the image tag listing didn't mention anything about resizing, so I thought that this would be the appropriate place to ask.

In html, you can show an image using:

<img src="www.yourimagelocation.jpg" width="800" height="600">

Since vB is similar to html, I was wondering if there were any mods to the tags that weren't listed in the tutorials.

It would be ideal to just be able to link to an image and resize it at the same time, without spending all that time downloading it, resizing it, uploading it to photobucket, and then linking to it. But if that's the best I can do, I'll go with it.

Yeah, i fully understand how you're thinking.

Maybe you could get more info from Dmitry (Till from Kenig) or Phil (Logz) they're both well versed in HTML and Dmitry is the lead programmer for UG. He might know a few things about vB code that aren't documented.

And if you think you might have a solution, just try it.
If it works in Preview, it will work when actually posted.

You could do a small vB hack (i think). I think vB forums come with a BBcode addition manager, which might be helpful.

But it could be done with php's regular_expressions.

Ill have a quick search.

you don't have to save the images on your computer, you can upload to photobucket directly from the url where it is currently stored instead of from your computer, and resize it once you've put it on photobucket.
