I use an 80's Peavey Bandit that has either been modded or blessed by Odin; the clean tone is very nice. I play alternative/indie/blues rock with a Strat. Are there any pedals under 100 dollars or so that will get me a good light to medium overdrive tone? I already have a Little Big Muff, so I have the heavier side of things covered.

I have already tried the BOSS SD-1 and a few variations of Tube Screamers and did not like the tone enough to buy them.

you wont get a nice overdriven sound from an ss amp

go tube

and the danelectro cool cat overdrive is amazing, and its true bypass and rediculously stupid

i would say save up fo a tube, but if your insistent then try out the Dano

I'd say Tech 21 Sansamp

However you might like the Boss Blues Driver which is a lot cheaper - it's a bit of a love/hate pedal but it suits a lot of people.

The problem with the Tubescreamers is that the sounds we're used to hearing are those pedals running through a tube amp that's already running hot so they're blended with the amps natural breakup...the Blues Driver emulates the sound of the pedal running through the amp so is probably more what you're looking for.

+1.

A Fulltone OCD would also be suitable.

The difference between using an OD with a tube amp and a SS amp is how you have it set. Most people just use an OD as a clean boost, gain set to zero, level set to full. With an SS amp, you'd want to set them both to noon and tweak from there.
