So I've got flatwounds on one of my guitars. I've had them on for about 2 months now, and the 1st and 2nd strings are pretty dingy. However, the 3rd-6th strings are just as good and shiny as ever. If I restring, I feel like I'm wasting four perfectly good strings, and my local Sam Ash doesn't have single-string packs.

What do you guys think?

Just buy a bundle pack (3x6) and replace the strings that you feel need to be replaced.

Its not like you're throwing the rest away

I prefer barbed wire strings. I find I can get the most br00t41 tonez with it.

You're gonna have to replace the other 4 eventually, just think of it as an investment or a safety net.
