return it?

no, seriously. assuming it works the same as a regular distortion pedal, it goes like this.

amp--(guitar cord)-->pedal--->(guitar cord)--->(guitar)
\___(power cord)--->wall

Plug it in between your guitar and your amp and step on it. Pure rocket science.

Instead of plugging directly into the amp, you plug into the pedals "Input," then run a cable from the pedals "Output" to the amps "Input" turn everything on, max out every knob and strum away!

Do you mean that you don't know how to connect it to your amp???
Plug your guitar into the Dist pedal jack marked "input". Plug a chord from the "Output" of the pedal to the "input" on your amp. Put your amp on a clean channel, and kick on the pedal. You should have some distortion. I hope this helps!

edit: Damn you guys are fast! 3 post before I could even submit mine Sorry for the redundant info.

This is a case of RTFM.

However, if your pedal doesn't come with a manual, download the Manual for any stompbox from almost any manufacturer and you'll get the idea.

I think its cool that Target and Best Buy are selling cheap pedals and stuff. When I was a kid, I had to get all my stuff 2nd hand because I couldn't afford gear brand new.

Now a days, if someone is just starting out, they're not losing a whole lot if they don't stick to guitar playing. Eventually, if they end up sticking to it they will buy better gear anyway.

If you want the pedal to really get some dirt on your amp then rig it up to your car battery, and watch the magic.

In all seriousness make a video now.

See, it's important that people clarify when they say "metal", because I pretty much always assume they are a Cannibal Corpse fanboi.
