Hiya! ok, here is my question. My D string has a notch or something on the 2nd fret. And I've been using this notch as kind of a guidline as where to put my fingers. Is this a bad thing? Should I go buy some new strings?

idk if its gonna be catastrophic to your strings in the near future but it might break at that spot sometime down the road. i would try not to get used to the notch because obviously its not gonna be on every set of strings

That notch is most likely a kink in the string from fretting too hard or the strings are old. Regardless of how old the strings are, I recommend that you change them.

Ok I will change them, they are old strings anyway...and I'm relying too much on the notch I think...thanks for the replies
