Post your favourite moment in a song.

Ex. April Ethereal (Opeth) - The way the mood changes when Mikael growls, "The rain was waving goodbye!"

Amazing.

Go!

Machine Head - Halo. Where it all slows down and all you can hear is "and I won't pray for you"
Carcass - Heartwork. The solo in the intro is pure awesomeness!
Agalloch - Kneel To The Cross. Just the whole chorus, one of my favourite songs ever.
Megadeth - 99 Ways To Die. The acoustic in the chorus sections.
Machine Head - Imperium. The whole song.
Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark. Right after the few lines of the beginning are spoken and it speeds up
#8
Dream Theater - Honor Thy Father. About halfway in little shred bit, James says "don't cross the crooked step" then an awesome breakdown.
Trivium - Shogun. Goes acoustic, then they put in a little bluesy solo. Great stuff.
Lamb of God - The Faded Line. Final breakdown, they put in the warning sirens in the background.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to put it, along with your other advice, into a book, the pages of which I will then use to wipe my ass.

The transitions in Babylon, by Scars on Broadway.

SoB are awesome, but would you mind telling what part the transitions are?

Mine would have to be the bridge in Disturbed's Decadence, when David Draiman sings, "Did i scare you now, dont run from me"

Or in the song Suite pee by System of a Down, when Serj yells, "I wanna f@#k, my, way to the garden, cos everyone, needs, a mother, F!@KER!!!

Somewhere a Clock Is Ticking - Snow Patrol, when the 'aaaahs' come in for the last time, amazing

Snow Patrol isn't the usual for me, but I love that part.

For me, in Shhh!!! If You're Quiet I'll Show You A Dinosaur... by The Fall of Troy, my favorite song moment of all time has to be when he starts singing, "I'll stay silent, though my mind grows violent, how will you sleep sound when, you have no air in your lungs!" and everything after that is just...epic.

Srsly. Listen to it, it will blow you away.

Keep What Ya Got - Ian Brown

When the flange kicks in and the part after:

"Remember where you came from.
Sister she told ya on a rainy day.
It’s said that heaven holds a place for all of those who pray.
And if you don’t believe in agony then you don’t care anyway.
Nobody or nothing’s ever getting in your way.
Even as you cradle on but don’t think you’ll be long.
No-ones gonna notice if yer never right or wrong.
And if you and your next neighbour, yeah you don’t quite get along.
No-ones gonna notice if your singing anyway.
Those not coming with with the few well then they gotta pay."

Gotta agree with you there even though I'm not the biggest Snow Patrol fan.

The "braa-a-a-a-owwww!" bit in The Devil by The Rapture comes to mind at the moment.

Porcupine Tree - Trains ("Always the summers, are slipping away..." at the end)
Tool - Lateralus - The whole ending part ("With my feet upon the ground...")
Opeth - Bleak (Steven Wilsons vocals)
Tool - Forty Six & 2 ("Steppin' through my shadows, forty six & 2 just ahead of me!)
The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Acoustic version, from Anthology 3) ("I look, from the winds, to the play you are staging, while my guitar gently weeps

There are many more, but those are the ones that comes to mind at the moment

Opeth- Closure: At 3.20+ where Mike says: 'Cause I've come clean, I've forgotten what I promised
In the rays of the sun, I am longing for the darkness".. Really sexy when everything stops.

Also the break in Tool-The Pot. Progressive metal is so awesome :

The chilling harmonics at the beginning of Welcome Home Sanitarium by Metallica.
And when James sings:
Kill is such a friendly word/Seems the only way/For reaching out again
And then his voice crescendoes into the amazing solo.

Awesome song, a f***ing masterpiece.

Coheed and Cambria - The Crowing
- When they go into the "Dear Ambellina, ths prise wishes you to watch over me" part. It still give me goosebumps to this day.

Coheed and Cambria - The Road and the Damned
- The chorus to that song is one of the best I've heard, ever.

And the solos during "The Final Cut" on the "Last Supper - Live at Hammerstein Ballroom" DVD.

Metallica - Creeping Death live. When everybody screams "die, die, die, die"!! gives me chills

The "light to dark, dark to light" part in Surrounded by Dream Theater. Such a great song to get drunk and sing along to.

The end of Blackwater Park by Opeth when it cuts out to the acoustic guitar outro. best moment in music, ever.

Watching from a Distance by Warning, when it goes into the verse riff after the intro.
In fact, just the whole of that album is amazing. Best doom metal album in existence IMO.

4:38 in Your Hand in Mine by Explosions in the Sky... phwoooar
EDIT: just listening to this song... about 2:30 is AMAZING aswell, such a lovely melody

The buildup in Untitled 8 by Sigur Ros, and when it finally breaks. Probably the best moment of a live show I have ever seen.

The end of Dark City, Dead Man by Cult of Luna, just breathtaking.

And finally, the whole of Ashes Against the Grain by Agalloch. Perfect album.

You missed out the whole of Delirium Trigger. There's something about that song that just... powerful. Also, in the acoustic version of Junesong Provision when he sings "I won't be coming back when you get this, I'll be dead"

Also, every part of Comfortably Numb is amazing, of course.
