How much money do you have to spend on both a guitar and amp?

I'm assuming you're just starting to play?

Try a used guitar with EMG pickups if you want those tight n' crunchy rhythms.

Ah, I see.

I'd stay away from the Epiphone.

What amp do you have right now? Maybe you'd need to upgrade your amp after you get the guitar? I don't know this though, but just to be sure, what is your first guitar?

Between the two Ibanez guitars, I'd go for the Art model, just because I prefer mahogany to basswood. Then again, if you're playing more shreddy stuff, basswood would be a better choice.

It might be good for us to know what you already have, because at this price range you may not be getting anything better than what you already have.

you could just buy the Vypyr 75, assuming you didn't need the pedal.

Ah, well cheers. You might want to avoid anything with active pickups if you're going to get a new guitar. They tend to sound... Not good on SS amps.

To anyone suggesting LTD, don't. You're going to get a pile of crap for $300. He's better off getting a better guitar in this price range going Ibanez.

I was referring to the people who want him to go LTD in the price range he's set on.

Any of the two Ibanez guitars you were looking at depending on your tastes and playing style. Maybe a pickup swap later on down the road.

Out of those 3, the RG.

I know you weren't asking, but I'd recommend saving more money, especially if it's your second guitar.
Alvarez dreadnought
Gibson SG
EC-1000
Homemade Strat (seymour duncan classic stack p/ups)
Vox Tonelab (original desktop model) with full board footswitch
Vox AD50
Avatar V30 4x12 cab

^^^^^Pretty sure my buddy's EC-500 plays/sounds better than his dad's Gibson LP Custom.

...Pretty sure you're deaf. Unless it's an Epiphone LP.

Pretty sure that the EC-500 isn't a $300 guitar.

Pretty sure that if he said its a Gibson, it can't be a Epiphone amirite? And assuming your point is valid, lets imagine an Elitist for a second. ^^;
